Funchal wins "best local authority for tourism" at BTL

Funchal is the best local authority for tourism. The distinction has just beenawarded at the gala 'Publituris Portugal Trade Awards 2012', under the Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa (BTL) started today in the Portuguese capital.

The organization took into account the work done by the municipality during the year 2011, its sensitivity to tourism, construction and maintenance of tourist facilities, services, images and events. The hotel group Porto Bay Hotels &Resorts won in the category of 'best hotel site.

" The Portugal Trade Awards distinguishes the best companies,institutions and professionals in 16 categories . It is an initiative newspaper 'Publituris', in partnership with BTL. Were part of the jury names like Vitor Neto and Bernardo Trindade, both former Secretaries of State for Tourism, Miguel Júdice, president of the Hospitality Association of Portugal (AHP), Pedro Ferreira Costa, president of the Portuguese Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism (APAVT) Adília Lisbon, chief executive of the Portuguese Confederation of Tourism (CTP), among others.

In the edition of 2012 were 16 categories in the competition: GSAAviation, Company Tranfers, Cruise Company, Space Congress, Area Events, International Operator, Tourism Company Assets, PCO, Independent Hotel, Hospitality Site, Corporate Agency , SiteOperator, Marina, Rural Tourism, Innovation Award and Prize for Best Local Authority.
