Baixa-Chiado

Lisbon downtown (Baixa or Baixa Pombalina) borders the river in the bottom of the valley formed by two of the city's seven hills. It was built by the Marquis of Pombal following the earthquake of 1755 and is one of the liveliest parts of town. Here you'll find the two departure points for the Yellow Bus Sightseeing Tours (Praça do Comércio and Praça da Figueira).
